This has been such an awsome day, I just have to share. I was checking Craig's list last night and spotted a Jet 3 x 24 stationary belt sander listed for $25. I exchanged a few emails with Pete, said I would be out tomrrow to get the belt sander and check out his stash of exotic wood. OHMYGOODNESS! He had a business next to a high end boat maker. He had scored four shelves worth of 1/4 sawn Honduran Mahogany. Some where 12' x 12" x 1/2" , the rest was about 9' x 9" x 1/4". I went through the stacks four times to pare down to 8 of the 9 x 9' and 2 6 x 8's. He didn't give it away, but I stole it for about 20 cents on the dollar. And if that wasn't a sweet enough deal, he gave me a storage tub full of new and used belts for the sander as well as just sanding paper. Most of it was new. That would have been enough to call it a great day, but when I pulled into the driveway, I spotted two boxes. One was from BobC and the other was from McMaster-Carr. I can't tell you which one I was more excited about, but I did open the zoot first. Man is it ever sweet. I'm saving that for down the road when I can do it justice. Thanks Bob! The icing on the cake was McMaster-Carr. It held the capacitor for my tablesaw. I have been sooooo hoping that this would be all I need to get it up and running and again and SCORE! It works. I am so jazzed that I didn't even care that the dog found another way out of the fence. At least she was in the driveway when I got home and not begging for her one free phone call, not that she could remember the number if it was written on her paw. |

Carlton, she is 85 lbs of stupid. She is scared of testosterone producers over the age of 7. She thinks she is a cat and wants to sleep on the back of the couch. The only thing she has going for her is her big heart. Oh, she does like the postman, he gives her biscuits. Don, the jury is still out on your decision about the drum sander, but I'm pullin' for you scoring big with the PowerBall. Serge, you are so right. The makore from BobC was enough to make me do the happy dance. The fact everything else happened, well, yeah this does chase away those shadowy ones. ![]() Thanks for sharing today with me. |

Total score. I was just talking to a guy who scored a solid cherry door (as in front door, not cabinet door) for $10 on craigslist. I gotta start visiting there more often! Mike |
